What: China Flat, 4 miles, 1000' gain from the Lindero Canyon Road trailhead.  China Flat sits beneath
Simi Peak (2403'), the highest peak in the Simi Hills.

When: Tuesday evenings, meet at 6:50 p.m. we start promptly at 7:00 p.m.!!!  We should return to the
trailhead around 8:15-8:30 p.m.  PLEASE BE ON TIME!!!

Conditioning: Means no lolly-gagging please.  We stop to enjoy the view at China Flat, but we don't
stopto wait for slow people on the way up.

Where: Exit the 101 freeway at Lindero Canyon Road and head north about 3-1/2 to 4 miles.  The
trailhead is marked by a large sign on the left hand side of the road that says “China Flat Trailhead”.  It is in
the middle of a residential neighborhood and is a bit hard to see in the dark.  Slow down and look for it…if
you get to the end of Lindero Canyon Road, you went too far.

Rain: Rain ENHANCES not cancels this hike.  I (Michelle) will cancel if there is lightening or if it’s a torrential
downpour and our trail has turned into a muddy river, otherwise I will be there.  You never know what the
weather is going to be like anyway...it can differ greatly even within a couple of miles.

Note: This is a quiet residential neighborhood.  Let's be a courteous neighbor and keep the sound level
down at the trailhead!  Also, please place your valuables in your trunk and out of sight.  There have been
break-ins at the trailhead, although luckily none on our hike (so far!)

Flashlights/Head Lamps: If you've hiked with me before you already know I don't approve of any
type of illumination on a good fire road or trail.  For this trail, however, I would suggest bringing a head lamp
or small flashlight.  The trail is a bit rocky and uneven in places and I don't want anyone to sprain an ankle.

Bring: Water, appropriate clothing for evening hiking, and proper footwear (trail runners or light hiking
boots will do).  If you would like to add to the burn, bring a backpack - but only if you can handle the extra
weight!  If it’s raining wear a waterproof breathable rain jacket.

Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Please e-mail the leader of this hike with any questions.
